Season 2 finale at historic Langston Golf Course:Black & Latina women build professional careers, pursuing golf’s highest levels, inspiring the next generation

WASHINGTON, DC, DC, UNITED STATES, September 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — A rising generation of professional women golfers will take center stage in the nation’s capital when the Sapphire Golf Tour brings its Season Two finale to Washington, D.C., September 9–12 for the Capital Tour Championship at Langston Golf Course.
The championship will mark the first professional golf tour championship played within Washington, D.C. proper, adding a new chapter to the District’s sports history while showcasing a rising generation of women working to advance in professional golf.
The championship will put the focus squarely on the Tour’s athletes — women competing for a season title while building professional careers, gaining critical tournament experience and pursuing opportunities to advance to the highest levels of the sport.
For these players, Sapphire represents more than another tournament. The developmental Tour provides high-level competition, advanced coaching, professional development, sponsorship visibility and opportunities to earn — helping address barriers that can derail talented golfers between the collegiate ranks and the highest levels of professional competition.

The Tour is already demonstrating what a stronger developmental pathway can make possible. Georgia Oboh, the 2025 Sapphire Golf Tour Points Leader, went on to qualify for the Ladies European Tour, an achievement she has credited in part to the competitive experience, confidence and financial support she received through Sapphire.
The athletes competing throughout Sapphire’s second season represent a broader effort to strengthen the pipeline for Black and Latina women in professional golf — providing the consistent competition, visibility and resources necessary not only to remain in the game, but to advance.
According to Sapphire Golf Tour’s 2026 impact data, half of its players are preparing for LPGA/Epson Q-School, 75% have increased their earnings by more than 400% compared with prior seasons, and 100% credit the Tour with advancing their career path.
Over the course of its 75-year history, there have only been eight Black women to play on the LPGA tour.
The setting for the championship adds meaning to that mission. Langston Golf Course opened in 1939 to serve Washington’s African American golf community during segregation and remains one of the most significant sites in Black golf history. More than eight decades later, its fairways will provide a stage for a new generation of women helping shape what comes next in the sport.

• Friday, Sept. 11–Saturday, Sept. 12: Capital Tour Championship competition, spectator access and 19th Hole VIP Hospitality
• Saturday, Sept. 12: Sapphire Junior Golf Clinic for girls and boys ages 8–18
Youth and college students can attend championship play free of charge, giving young golfers an opportunity to walk the fairways, experience professional competition up close and see athletes representing a pathway they can aspire to follow.
The Capital Tour Championship marks the culmination of Sapphire’s second national season and brings together professional athletes, fans, business leaders and the community around competition, culture and the continued growth of women’s golf.
